what we do

Here’s how we support Latinas affected by breast cancer

Assistance and Support

We understand the financial strain that breast cancer can impose on women and their families. As a local organization, our financial support is modest but heartfelt. We primarily focus our support in three areas:

  • Meal plans – This helps nourish and strengthen Latinas while they are going through treatment. At the same time it can alleviate the burden and responsibility they face preparing meals for their family.
  • Transportation – Transportation back and forth to treatment can be a challenging, both from a logistical and financial perspective. We help address this by offering ridesharing gift cards to Latinas during their cancer treatment.
  • Care packages – Sometimes it’s the little things that mean the most. With the help of volunteers we prepare and distribute care packages that help alleviate some of the discomforts associated with treatment, particularly chemotherapy.

Education and Awareness

Education is the key to early detection and prevention. We strive to empower Latinas with knowledge about breast cancer, promoting awareness within their communities and fostering preventative health practices.

We seek to disseminate valuable information. Many Latinas are simply not aware of the many programs and public assistance that is available to them during their treatment. We make this information available here on our website, and also distribute the info in pamphlets and flyers at the events we attend.

We also collaborate with healthcare providers, community centers, and breast cancer support groups to try to reach as many women as possible in the Orange County area.

Events

We organize events or partner with other organizations to attend events where we can reach Latinas who can benefit from our services. These events can serve as a venue for identifying Latinas needing help. Depending on the event, this is where we often distribute our meal plans and transportation assistance. Such events also allow us hand out information and bilingual resources.

Please reach out to us if you or someone you know is in need of support. Alternatively if you would like to contribute to our cause, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
